How To Style A Midi Skirt For Autumn
While my favourite thing to pull on is a pair of jeans and a chunky knit, there’s nothing better than putting on something fancy like a ruffle midi skirt and feeling all fancy. Not to mention many have elasticated waist bands meaning you can go to dinner not worrying about that button that feels as though it’s about to pop any minute. Bonus!
You can create so many looks with just one midi skirt; by switching out your top for a role neck jumper, a chunky oversized knit, perhaps add a blazer, swap your sandals for an appropriate pair of OTK boots and they can take you right through Autumn/Winter. Just that alone is enough to warrant it as the perfect skirt for Autumn.
This season the high street brings you a huge selection of skirts in all different lengths, different materials, different fabrics, different colours, different patterns AND different details. There are so so many its hard to choose but maybe I’ll just have to buy more (Ha!)
My current favourite skirt is this midi ruffle skirt from Zara which I could honestly wear for every single occasion; a day at the office, lunch with the girls, date night, you name it, this skirt is the one for all occasions and especially since it is only £29.99. Not only does it kill two trends at once; ruffles and pink but the sophisticated and feminine elegance this midi skirt gives means it will appear flattering on any shape!
For a casual weekend look, add a chunky oversized knit to keep you toasty while out and about! Individually, jumpers and skirts are both wardrobe staples, but when combined, the two are unstoppable as the perfect season-to-season transitional pairing. This one from Zara is the softest material and though it’s not so clear in the photos, it has pearl appliqué along the neckline and down the sleeves which balances out the ‘tom boy’ persona it gives from being oversized. Another trend ticked!
For any days in the office, show a little more skin while its just about warm enough and perhaps pair your midi skirt with a pair of closed toe sandals like these from Topshop. Not only are these khaki green sandals the perfect autumnal hue but they complement the deep coppery shade of pink, making it really pop taking you straight from day to night.
On those chillier days, opt for a pair of knee high boots like I have here which will keep you stylish and warm. The low block heel makes them the perfect all rounder as they are stylish and comfortable which means running for the bus won’t be a problem.
To add a touch of luxe to my ruffle midi skirt but for less, I’ve chose to add my Gucci Dionysus **dupe** (would you believe it) which is actually from Shein. Dupes are a very controversial topic – and one that is big enough for a whole other post – but personally I think they are a great way for people to perhaps try the trend and see if it fits in with their wardrobe and if they wear it enough to justify the cost or for people who love the design but simply can’t afford it! I haven’t seen anything similar and I instantly knew I had to have it! The deep shade of tan not only helps to bring the whole outfit together but the colour means you will be able to throw it on over any outfit without having to even think about it.
Will you be wearing any midi skirts to see you through the rest of Autumn!? Let me know in the comments below! xoxo
